The time and dedication that undoubtedly went into creating some of the fan games on this list is downright insane. We recently wrote a list of the best Pokemon ROM hacks, but we’re taking a break on covering ROM hacks for now to gush about some of the greatest fan games out right now. With these games, you get to explore a Pokémon world you’ve never seen before, use mega evolutions in games that never before existed, and do things you never would be able to in the official Pokémon games released by Game Freak. You can expect to log about 20 hours worth of playtime here and the game has Gen 1 through 6 Pokémon included alongside over 100+ additional custom Fakemon added to it (with regional forms and evolutions included). What’s more, the developers even included online trading and battling elements which are available on the desktop version of the game and or certain app versions as well. Not only does Pokemon Infinity have an in-depth immersive world that you won’t get bored exploring, but it’s an experience that you can’t quite get in any other Pokemon game, both official and fan-created. There’s a certain level of unpredictability here that comes from the game’s conditions that change every time you play it. The game has 10-15 hours worth of gameplay that’s chock-full of monster-catching and battling, downright good fun. The game features a world inspired by samurai stories and takes players on an exciting adventure. Battles are thrilling and the game has plenty of unique characters that are ready to be discovered. There’s a pretty original story here that’s been crafted specifically for fans of the Pokemon franchise. Pokemon Bushido is a fan game that was developed originally using RPG Maker XP and uses the Pokemon Essentials starter kit and MKXP. Some features from later generations like the Exp. All HM items are also found here but come with a unique twist. In Bushido, you explore the beautiful region of Aisho which is home to luscious trees, vibrant waters, clear blue skies, and lots of interesting people to meet across your journey. You’ll choose between one of three starters: Treecko, Fennekin, and Oshawott and you’ll also have to choose between the three different distinct Kenshi Clans.
