Animal Crossing: New Horizons Yes, this game was also on my list of the best Switch games for adults. It is a prime game that should be played by all genders and age groups who like to get creative! Animal Crossing: New HorizonsThis is a game that can be enjoyed by girls of all ages. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a fun game to play locally or online multiplayer. You can expect to make friends with the islanders as well. What I like about this game is the ability to customize and style your island really to anything you can think of. You have many different ways to stylize your island, making it unique from other players. You have design tools where you can customize clothing, tiles that you can add to the ground, and furniture! You can expect to lodge lots of hours into this game to complete and style your island to your liking. Along with items you can purchase to set that up as well. If you’re someone who is into design this game is truly paradise for you. There is also the DLC called Happy Home Paradise. In Happy Home Paradise you can become essentially a traveling home designer helping the villagers design their vacation homes. Happy Home Paradise adds more items for you as well to help customize your island and add different lighting to the game! I recommend playing both to have more items in the beginning. You can also visit friends who may have different items on their island based on what fruit and airport combo they start with. Don’t fret if you don’t have friends who play the game, you can visit Harvey’s Islandand talk to some of our favorites from the GameCube game that can help you style your furniture as well! Buy on Amazon 2. Stardew Valley Stardew ValleyThis is another game for girls that everyone will find that they enjoyed playing. Stardew Valley is a game that is truly a collector’s delight. If you like hidden content, this is a game you will enjoy! In Stardew Valley, you play as a city slicker whose grandpa had a farm out in the country. Unfortunately, your, grandpa has passed away and left his beat-up farm to you. Tired of the city life, we leave to go to his farm and fix up the place. You are tasked with later fixing up the town. You meet with multiple different characters and unlock different locations. I like to think of Stardew Valley as the Minecraft version of animal crossing. I do want to preface however that they only have minor similarities and that this game is truly its own and deserves a spotlight of its own. You can take different tools to chop wood, grow your crops and even fight monsters in caves. What makes this a great game is that you also have many secrets you can uncover. You’ll find there are very time-sensitive things that have to be completed to get specific items and gamers who are completionists will love this! You can also romance several different characters that you can romance which will surely spice things up! Buy on Amazon 3. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Legend of Zelda: Breath of the WildFor the young girls who may enjoy a bit of puzzles and adventure this game is for you! Breath of the Wild is the perfect game for girls as it has literally everything a girl could ask for – plot, collectible items, dyes to change your clothing, puzzles, and weapons! Breath of the Wild opens with Link, awakening from his slumber hundreds of years after an epic battle with Ganon. The plot is that we need to uncover our memories and also return to the Hyrule Castle to beat Ganon. You’ll find that along the way you meet a lot of different characters within the game. Flipping through different side quests if you choose to play through the whole game instead. Personally, I love when we locate different nonplayable characters like Hetsu here, who will help you upgrade your gear if you bring him Korok seeds. You can find the seeds by finding the secret Koroks hidden all over the kingdom. Korok seedsYou can also collect different horses throughout the game to ride and you can also name them! I also enjoy the dialogue that you can have with the different characters in the game. It’s important to talk to everyone you can so you don’t miss any secrets! Buy on Amazon 4. Super Mario Party Super Mario PartyI am a sucker for mini-games, and I love the cute characters you can play in the game! Young girls and a younger audience, in general, will love the gameboard-style setup of the game. The plot is that you are playing against other characters to be the number one, the superstar! Not to be confused with the other game- Mario Party Superstars, this game is similar to the same games within its franchise. In this game, you can move around the gameboard to get to the star spaces. You need the most stars in the game to win the game at the end. You can craft a plan to get as many stars as possible and try to steal stars from your friends. This game now has both online and local play. You can’t really play co-op through the whole game, but players can enjoy mini-games that have randomized multiplayer. You have multiple rounds that you can choose to customize your gameplay. Gamers can enjoy our usual baddie Bowser showing up to switch the party around and make things interesting. Girls of all ages will enjoy playing the game with silly antics. Buy on Amazon 5. Celeste CelesteThis story-driven platformer game has excellent writing and excellent story-telling that makes it one of the best Nintendo Switch games for girls around! Celeste follows Madeline, a young woman who decides to climb the perilous and truly spell-binding mountain Celeste. While trying to climb the mountain, Madeline encounters Badeline – the manifestation of her anxiety and depression. Celeste has what I consider to be truly wonderful storytelling. Gamers who enjoy the more classic platformer will also be treated to scaling difficulties as they carry on. What I like about this game is that you’re adapting and learning as you play it and it continues to challenge you along the way. Girls and most people of all ages can relate to trying to make it through their struggles while continuing on their goals. This game does beautifully with sending such a powerful message! Even if you’re not a gamer per se, the characters are also very cute within the game and the dialogue is also very well written. Buy on Amazon 6. New Pokemon Snap! New Pokemon Snap!Do you like Pokemon but maybe don’t enjoy the battling aspect that much? Pokemon Snap is the perfect game for girls who like Pokemon and want a more relaxed experience. This game may be an excellent game to get your younger girl to play. Little girls (and most adults) will enjoy this safari-style gameplay. New Pokemon Snap is one of the more popular games for girls on the Switch. This game is a new take on the classic N64 game brought to the Switch. The game takes place in the Lental Region. Here the island holds everything you can think of! Vast deserts, sparkling waters, deep dense jungles, and most importantly- Pokemon! Our job is to capture all the Pokemon we can to build our PhotoDex. This game is great for introducing a little girl to Pokemon if you’re a Pokemon family and you want something that is less action-heavy but still exciting to play. Or if you’re like me and into how you might encounter these Pokemon in the wild without worrying about how to catch them! Buy on Amazon 7. Kirby and the Forgotten Land Kirby and the Forgotten LandKirby’s take on the open-world genre is so good, and another of the best Nintendo Switch games for girls you’ll be able to play. Kirby and the Forgotten Land takes place in a seemingly post-apocalyptic world. Kirby must help the kidnapped Waddle Dees fight against the dangerous Beast Pack alongside our cute new friend Elfin! In this visually stunning 3D adventure game, Kirby uses his suction powers to copy his enemies’ abilities along with a few new and never before seen abilities! In Mouthful mode, our pink hero can suck in different objects to help him progress in the story. The gameplay for this is truly engaging and honestly one of the best games you could play on the Nintendo Switch to date. Girls of all ages can enjoy the different game modes which allow you to play the story or a more battle-heavy brawl against the Beast Pack! You can also play this as local co-op which makes the gameplay even more engaging for young players! Have your friends join you to help fight the big bad Beast Pack. Buy on Amazon 8. Kirby Star Allies Kirby Star AlliesThis is a more classic take on the Kirby games. What I love about this is that it brings us the classic side scrolling adventure iconic to the Kirby franchise. This story takes place on planet Popstar, our hero Kirby must stop the evil Hyness a priest bent on destroying the world. Friends can join in on the fun in a local co-op mode for up to 3 friends. The game keeps the classic wonderful Kirby music, cutesy visuals, and side scrolling adventure action we’re all used to. This iteration of Kirby is great for gamers who may enjoy a more classic gameplay experience. All our battles are more simplistic and the objective remains the same from stage to stage, with the ultimate goal to get to the end! It is nice to see a Switch game that keeps to the more classic side of platformers. Something I feel we don’t see a whole lot of in newer Switch games. Buy on Amazon 9. Overcooked 2 Overcooked 2Overcooked is another silly game that you play co-op with another friend. Rise to the kitchen challenge and make as many dishes as you can! Overcooked is about a couple of cooks who are trying to make it in the restaurant biz. Just kidding, you are called upon by the king to save the day by cooking! The world is toast so to speak and it’s up to you and your partner chef to save the day! This is a two player experience that requires a lot of synergy between the players. As you’re building different plates, you want to be aware of your teammate and what they are doing. Communication is needed to complete each level as they do get more perilous. You’ll have a lot of fun as the game progresses and see different foods that come out. What I enjoyed in this game is how silly the art style and gameplay can be. You can also customize your character a bit as you level up and unlock more content. Buy on Amazon 10. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Mario Kart 8 DeluxeMario Kart will make it to any list I make that has any way to reference the best Nintendo Switch games. This has different modes that allow you to race against different players. You can play local multiplayer or online play. You can play against friends in locked lobbies or you can join a Worldwide or region based race. There is also the ability to play the battle modes online as well in the same fashion. Gamers will enjoy the ability to customize their karts for speed, weight, and acceleration if you’re more of a serious racer. If you enjoy putting together fun or silly karts you can customize them to your heart’s content. You can also get the Booster Course Pass. You can get this with the purchase of the Nintendo Switch online membership as an expansion pack. The DLC adds additional tracks along with additional characters to add to the fun! Buy on Amazon 11. Move along by yourself as the main star or play against your friends in the different dance modes. Just Dance is a fun way for gamers to get in some exercise. What I love about these games is that there is no storyline, We’re just dancing to the music. What is there not to love? Rhythm gamers may enjoy this as it allows you to pick a song track and match the moves of the character on screen. Play with friends and share your score online to see where you rank! Move along to your favorite songs with dance moves sure to win over your friends! The ultimate version of the game sports 40 new tracks. It also has a Sweat mode which allows you to track the calories you’re burning if you’re looking for a fun workout! Buy on Amazon 12. In an alternate universe, the divine arcana of the tarot, The High Priestess, The Empress, and The Hierophant have their harmony stolen. Before they completely fade away, they use their powers to create the heroine. Now as a butterfly, the heroine finds our young heart-broken character and launches her on an adventure. Sayonara Wild Hearts is a surrealistic pop-music video game that follows a young heartbroken woman on her journey to self-realization. Each level of the game will have the player fighting enemies, collecting hearts, and avoiding obstacles to a different song. What is there not to love? We take our two main characters Misako and Kyoko whose boyfriends have been kidnapped by bad guys and now it’s their job to go save the day! This game is a more classic beat-em-up brawler type that is perfect for girls who enjoy fighting games. You can enjoy this game either as a single-player or local multiplayer as well.
