Hi there!
Switcher.gg was originally released back in September of 2018. The response from the Nintendo Switch community was insane! Tens of thousands of users signed up within days and it was awesome to see.
It blew up on Reddit and received tens of thousands of upvotes and was even featured on sites like IGN, Kotaku, NintendoLife, and DualShockers to name a few.
As time progressed and we continued to grow, we noticed a trend. While users were sending game invites to other players and accepting them, it was clearly difficult for both users to meet up at the same time. Plenty of users found friends and added others by friendcode, but simply adding a user's friendcode isn't enough on the Switch. With no real way to easily communicate on the Nintendo Switch console, this complicated things. The website was at a great starting point, but we knew that we could do much better. We would need to create a true matchmaking service that would pair users with others that owned the same games in real-time and allow users to effectively communicate and play right then and there.
We decided to put our heads down and begin development on a new update which solved the core issue that Nintendo Switch players face - finding others in real-time to play games with. So we got to work doing just that.
Introducing Switcher Matchmaking:
The process is simple -
To make a matchmaking group, first click the lightning icon button on the bottom right, then:
- Name your matchmaking group
- Select how many players you are looking for
- Click to begin matchmaking
Once you begin, your group is sent as a notification to all users currently online who have this game in their games list. They can click this notification to join your group instantly and you can begin chatting together there. All users in the group are listed with their Nintendo ID, Discord, and additional info for easy adding and gaming.
After the online users are notified, we then notify the offline users with this game with an email containing a link to join just by clicking.
Each matchmaking group has a unique invite link which you can share anywhere and with anyone you'd like to instantly join. Here's an example of an invite for a group of mine:

You can browse recently active matchmaking groups that users have created on your profile and swipe through them to find ones you'd like to join. You can see how many users currently are in each group, when it was last active, and which game the group is meant for.
In addition to matchmaking, now you can also chat with users on-site. To begin a chat, simply click the purple chat icon next to their profile photo.
All chats and matchmaking groups are saved in the right sidebar and you can easily access them anytime (mobile users can toggle this sidebar by clicking the orange menu icon on the top right).
We've been working hard behind the scenes for well over a year now and we not only hope that you enjoy it, but that it helps you find other players to play with on the Switch today. If you have any questions or would like to reach out directly, please feel free to send me a message or friend request:
