Splatfest is a special timed Splatoon 2 event where players choose between two teams which they want to represent. Splatfests are events that continue to occur and are hosted by the Off the Hook’s members, Pearl and Marina. The more recently announced Splatfest 2020 teams are Team Chicken vs Team Egg. Players may only be one of two colors during the Splatfest which enables other players to easily tell which team someone is on. Clothing during the Spatfest is locked and players may only wear the Splatfest t-shift which reflects the color and design of the team chosen. Players have the option to enter one of two Splatfest battle modes, either normal or pro. In normal mode, players either begin alone or with friends by teaming up prior to the battle. players may continue to battle with friends so long as they remain in the same lobby together between matches. Pro mode was a bit different though, as players were not able to team up with friends are were automatically matched with three other players. Between matches, players were always given new teammates. When is Splatfest 2020? Splatfest 2020 is August 21, 2020 at 3 PM PT and will continue for 48 hours. It has been confirmed by Nintendo that two additional Splatfests will be available before March 2021. The theme of the first Splatfest is Team Chicken vs Team Egg and will help to finally answer the question of which came first: the chicken or the egg? The resurgence of the traditional Splatfests in 2020 and beyond are in part because it is the 3 year anniversary of Splatoon 2. How to Play A Splatfest With Friends in Splatoon 2 Playing in a Splatfest with friends on the Nintendo Switch is actually fairly straightforward. You have the ability to play with up to three friends on the same team in a Splatfest so long as you are playing in normal mode. Do note that if your group of players only consists of two to three, the additional remaining spots on your team will be filled by random solo players until you have a total of 4 players. Unfortunately, pro mode does not allow players to form teams with friends. Pro mode is for a more hardcore experience where players will be randomly matched with others for every single match played. Players are judged by their overall Spatfest Power in pro mode, with the ability to make it into the top 100 players. The more teams that you beat, the higher your Clout becomes, with the most Clout being earned for being teams who have a high Splatfest Power. What Are Splatfest Rare 10x and 100x Battles? In Splatoon 2, Splatfests sometimes put you into something called a rare 10x battle. Players who enter and win rare 10x battles have their contribution points multiplied by 10, which can really help players jump up significantly. Even more rare than the 10x battles are the illustrious 100x battles. If players win either the 10x or 100x battles in a Splatfest, they can be shown on the big tv monitor in the Inkopolis Square and have their team nicknames be shown in Normal mode as well.
