HomeRumorNintendo Direct In September 2020 Suggested By Industry Insider Nintendo Direct Nintendo Direct In September 2020 Suggested By Industry Insider For the past 12 months now, Nintendo fans have been hearing the same string of words: “A Nintendo Direct might be coming soon”. This particular phrase has been reworded and restated in many different ways, but the same outcome has arrived every single time. It’s been a long time since Nintendo has released a full Nintendo Direct showcasing first party titles to really quell our desire for Nintendo news. Don’t get me wrong, I want a full Nintendo Direct to air next week just as much as the next guy, but I feel it’s important to be transparent. Sometimes we can get so caught up in the hype that something might happen that we forget all of the other times things didn’t quite come to fruition. That’s all not to say that a Nintendo Direct won’t happen next week or in September of 2020; it’s very possible that it might. Accordingly to Jeff Grubb of VentureBeat, we may very well get a Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase next week and a full Nintendo Direct presentation in September. For those of you not familiar with Jeff Grubb, he is a writer over at VentureBeat in the “GamesBeat” section of the website. He has a bit of a history correctly reporting upcoming game industry events. Grubb went on record claiming that a Nintendo Direct is likely to air this coming Friday, August 28, 2020. Grubb stated that he has “heard a few things” and that “there’s a strong possibility that there will be a Nintendo Direct next week on Friday”. He then went on to say that the Direct could clearly be another Parter Showcase event, so to not get too excited with overt expectations. This seems like common sense, but many fans can be quick to immediately jump to conclusions and expectations. He then went on to mention Nintendo’s statement about more upcoming Partner Showcase Directs is echoing in the back of his mind regarding the theorized upcoming Direct next friday. “I think there’s a lot of science pointing to next week being a General Direct, and there is a general Direct coming up, it seems like for sure.”Jeff Grubb on why he thinks Nintendo is likely to hold a General Direct next week. Nintendo is likely to hold a General Direct before the middle of September hits as that is when they are holding a meeting with their investors. For Nintendo to just waltz up into the meeting having only announced Pikmin 3 as the release of 2020 seems heavily unlikely. Nintendo aren’t going to want to go into their special investor meeting nearly empty handed being bombarded with questions about their lineup. As with all industry insider info, it’s important to keep expectations low. We don’t have any official statement from Nintendo about upcoming Directs yet, and Nintendo usually hold onto those details until a couple of days before they are scheduled to go live. While it is likely that Nintendo will hold a General Direct sometime soon, this is all just speculation. No one really knows just yet and are reporting solely on hearsay, rumors, and speculation. All that being said, here’s to hoping we finally get confirmation from Nintendo about a Mario 35th anniversary Collection on the Switch.
