Both Mega Pidgeot and Mega Houndoom can be unlocked over the following 3 weeks, as well as a few other key updates as well. Pokemon Go Live posted to their website, giving players more information on the update and what to expect. The have also released a youtube video with pertinent information. How to Unlock Mega Pidgeot To unlock Mega Pidgeot, Players must complete 2 million mega raids in total. This timeframe will run from Tuesday, September 1, 2020, at 8:00 a.m. to Monday, September 7, 2020, at 10:00 p.m. Players are to complete as many Mega Raids as the possibly can during this timeframe. You will gain Mega Energy which can be used to Mega Evolve your Pokémon. You also will battle Raid Bosses. If 2 million Mega Raids are accomplished in the time frame, Mega Pidgeot will be unlocked and available in Mega Raids. Key Features There will be an increased number of Mega Raids.There will be an increased attack bonus from friends in raids.Event-exclusive Field Research focused on raid-related tasks will be available for a limited timeYou can receive Mega Energy for Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise by completing limited event-exclusive Field Research tasks.The following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild: Abra, Magnemite, Exeggcute, Rhyhorn, Tangela, Electabuzz, Omanyte, Aerodactyl, Murkrow, Treecko, Torchic, Lotad, and Roselia.If you’re lucky, you may even run into a Shiny Lotad!How to Unlock Mega Houndoom To unlock Mega Houndoom, Players must complete 275 million mega raids in total. This will last from Friday, September 11, 2020, at 8:00 a.m. to Thursday, September 17, 2020, at 10:00 p.m. Players should use their Mega Evolved form Pokémon during Gym battles, Team GO Rocket battles, and Trainer Battles (the one exclusion is GO Battle League battles). If 275 million of these battles are completed successfully during the time frame, Mega Houndoom will be unlocked and available in Mega Raids. Key Features You can receive Beedrill Mega Energy by completing event-exclusive Field Research tasks. When you use Mega Beedrill in Gym battles, Team GO Rocket battles, and Trainer Battles (excluding GO Battle League battles) during the event period, it’ll receive a temporary CP boost!You can receive Mega Energy for Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise by completing limited event-exclusive Field Research tasks.The following Bug-type Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild: Caterpie, Weedle, Paras, Venonat, Scyther, Pinsir, Ledyba, Spinarak, Wurmple, Kricketot, and Burmy.We’re getting word that Team GO Rocket will be using different Shadow Pokemon during this event as well!
