Orzly Hard Shell Nintendo Switch Case Review Orzly Switch Case Details The Orzly case was specifically created to go hand in hand with the portable nature of the Nintendo Switch console, making it even more portable/travel friendly. The case fits the Nintendo Switch in docked mode (with joycon controllers attached) and comes with an inner pocket section which can fit additional joycon controllers, cords, game cartridges, etc.The case’s hard substance EVA shell works to protect your Switch from outer elements yet has a soft inner lining materials that keeps your screen from being scratched.Case Dimensions The Orzly hard shell case is 5 inches x 5 inches x 0.7 inches and weighs approximately 9.88 ounces (or 0.6175 pounds) making this case nearly the size of a Nintendo Switch in handheld mode and remaining lightweight. Orzly Hard Shell Nintendo Switch Case Review If you are looking for a nice looking and feeling case for your Nintendo Switch that is definitely capable of carrying everything one would expect, then this Orzly case should meet your expectations. That being said, let’s go over some of the pros and cons of this item. The structural design of the case is on point. It feels quite solid on the outside, with a hard, rubber-like black shell structure complete with two zippers, a molded inner fabric section for the Switch handheld with attached joycons, and an inner pocket for additional accessories. This case comes with a sturdy handle with a molded rubber grip. The inner area where the Switch handheld sits comes with two elastic bands that help to hold it in place once opened. The case makes sure to have a section which works as a cover to the Switch’s screen, keeping it from being scratched or damaged from items that are placed in the additional pocket. In it, you will find areas to store your Switch game cartridges as well (and any additional microSD cards that you may have lying around). In regards to the accessory pocket, the mesh/elastic netting material which holds the accessories in place can be a bit shifty depending on how you place the items. Because the meth itself is now flush with the entire pocket area, if you places your accessories in lop sided fashion, you may find that they scatter all over the place when you go to open the case up. So do keep in mind and be careful how you place your items into the mesh section. With all of that being said, you should have no problem fitting an additional set of joycons into it as well as the Switch’s AC power adapter. Because the case itself is very low profile on the outside (and fairly symmetrical), it can be difficult to figure out if you are opening it upside down or not, which can essentially lead to dropping accessory items on open. This likely will only be an issue on the very first few uses as you will eventually get the hang of it and form your own personal strategy as to how you go about things. That being said, it does seem worth noting for first timers. We didn’t personally notice any seams ripping from having the case stuffed full of items and accessories, but it is still early on in the item’s lifecycle. Which the seams of the case did tend to show while the case itself was rather full, everything remained intact and good to go. If in the future we notice that the seam begins to wear, we will likely return to this review and leave of a mention of that. And as a last fairly minor negative note, for those that are sensitive to certain material smells, this case when brand new had a rather strong plastic kind of smell to it. This smell is most pungent when first removing the case, but should dissipate over time if left to air out. Just a heads up if you plan to pull this thing right out of the packaging before jumping on a plane…your neighbors in the seat next to you might not appreciate the strong odor much. Try to make sure and give yourself some time to let the thing air out a bit first. All in all, this is a solid case for the price. It is functional, well designed, and feels rather sturdy. It’s a handy little toolbox to keep all of your Switch accessories in when traveling or when not being used around the home. We’d absolutely recommend it if you’re in the market for a Nintendo Switch case.
