HomeNintendo SwitchSuper Mario Bros. 35: Super Mario Battle Royale Announced Nintendo Direct Super Mario Bros. 35: Super Mario Battle Royale Announced During a surprise Nintendo Direct this morning for the Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary, Nintendo announced a brand new game called Super Mario Bros. 35. Super Mario Bros. 35 is an online battle game where players compete against 34 other players across the world. As players kill enemies in this class Mario Bros. style game, they are sent to other players to have to defeat as well. There is an “item roulette” which will randomly choose an item to give to you along with a similar “attack” mode seen in Tetris 99. The 4 available attack types are lowest time, random, most coins, and attackers. In the game, you must try to survive as long as you can, and ultimately try to be the last Mario standing. As you kill enemies, earn coins, and get power-ups, other players will be doing the same, and in turn trying to destroy you. There is a limited amount of time available and it appears that as you kill enemies, more time is awarded to you to keep on trucking. This game is similar in a sense to Tetris 99, which a number of similar mechanics added into it along with quite a few new strategies for players to master as well. This Battle Royale style Mario Bros. game looks like a fun yet hectic time that is a must play on day one. It will be releasing for free to Nintendo Switch Online members and will become available digitally on October 1, 2020. Super Mario Bros. 35 will be playable until March 31, 2021 and will be removed after this date. It is not clear if Nintendo has any plans to revive this game afterwards in some fashion, but as of now we know that it is a timed exclusive.
