Nintendo Switch game voucher holders have at the latest until July 31, 2020 to use them (if they were purchased on July 31, 2019). You only have one year after you initially purchased your voucher to use it before it is no longer valid.

Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers were only available for a limited amount of time to subscribers of Nintendo Switch Online. subscribers were able to purchase them from Nintendo in sets of two up until July 31, 2019. Each voucher purchased could be used to get a digital game on the Nintendo Switch.

Which countries could buy vouchers?

You were able to buy Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers if you were located in the U.S., Canada, or Mexico up until July 31, 2019. Vouchers could only be used to purchase games that were available in the region the vouchers were initially purchased in.

When do Switch game vouchers expire?

Switch game vouchers expire exactly one year (365 days) after you purchase them. So, let’s say you bought a game voucher on July 1, 2019 – that game voucher would then expire on July 1, 2020. So, if you still haven’t used a qualifying game voucher that you purchased in July of 2019 you had better do so soon as you have up until the end of July to do so before they expire.

Can I exchange a game voucher for Nintendo Gold Points?

Nintendo’s website clearly states that game vouchers are eligible to receive Nintendo Gold Points when purchasing, but it does not appear that you are able to use vouchers to trade for Nintendo Gold Points. The following statement below is a quote from their site:

Yes. You will receive Gold Points when you purchase a set of Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers, but you will not receive additional Gold Points when you redeem a voucher on a game. Game voucher redemptions may be eligible for My Nintendo promotions. Review the promotion details for more information.

From what we can find, it seems that game vouchers can only be redeemed towards an actual game on the Switch.

How do I buy Nintendo Switch game vouchers?

Game vouchers on the switch were only available to purchase for a limited amount of time. The cutoff was July 2019 – as of July 2020, game vouchers are no longer available. It is unlikely Nintendo will be bringing these back in the future, but their website does say the following:

Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers are not currently scheduled to return, but Nintendo of America is continually evaluating special offers for Nintendo Switch Online members.

It seems that game vouchers won’t be making a return, but Nintendo Switch Online subscribers may see other options available in the future.
