HomeNews“Another Crusade” – A Spiritual Successor To Super Mario RPG News “Another Crusade” – A Spiritual Successor To Super Mario RPG Any long time Nintendo fans likely know about the classic SNES title, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. It is revered by many as one of the greatest (if not the greatest) Nintendo RPGs to ever be published. There is a game currently raising funding on Kickstarter called Another Crusade who is a self proclaimed “spiritual successor of a super RPG and its seven stars”. Another Crusade is a timed-battle role playing game with key strategy elements. The game is heavily inspired by Super Mario RPG – they say they have worked hard to become as close to a sequel to the original title as possible (this is their dream). The Kickstarter as of now sits at $3,813 out of their pledged goal of $11,218 total. 195 people have pledged money to support the project and there are still 26 days to go for this game to reach its goal. There is a demo available for players to try out and get an overall idea of how the game will function. You can download the demo and try it out here. The developers are currently taking feedback from players, so if you give the demo a shot and have any advice you’d like to throw their way, go ahead and let them know. The game initially was set to release on PC and Mac, but they have additional stretch goal releases for the Switch as well. If you ask me, I think they really should be targeting the Switch first and foremost as this is their core audience. A game like this would likely do very well on the Switch’s eShop with the proper marketing behind it. The battle mechanics and scenes themselves are very reminiscent of Mario RPG and the inspiration shines through. The music is nice as well and from what I have heard, goes well with setting the overall tone of the game. If you’re a fan of RPGs and have been wanting a spritual successor to the original Mario RPG game, then you should go over and check out the demo. It seems that Another Crusade might meet its initial goal, but we’ll just have to wait and see if any of the additional stretch goals are met for this game to head on over the Nintendo Switch as well.
