The Nintendo Switch Minecraft update has the following information or it that Mojang released on their official website: Posted: August 20, 2020 This hotfix is being rolled out on Nintendo Switch to address stability issues introduced since the launch of 1.16.20. Fixed stability issues discovered when interacting with Minecraft and the home screen while signed in to Microsoft Accounts (MCPE-95621)The recent Minecraft hotfix update for the Switch version of the game is intended to fix the issues that many players were experiencing. The game had become unplayable for many, with it completely hanging on the title screen. A quick look through the comment replies for the hotfix shows that many players are still having issues. Some players however have replied thanking Mojang for being quick to roll out a further hotfix update attempting to resolve the issues. At this point, it seems like a mixed bag of responses, with some players saying that the newest update has fixed the issues with other still stating that they are unable to get into the game. Apparently, the newest Minecraft update released prior to the hotfix was causing Nintendo Switch consoles to freeze entirely when trying to log into Minecraft servers. Minecraft took to Twitter to notify players of the reported bug: Minecraft on Switch: We are still working on a fix. However, for a temporary workaround, try not signing in to a Microsoft account. While you won’t have access to servers, Realms, or possibly Marketplace content, you will be able to play single player & split-screen worlds. – HZ— Mojang Status (@MojangStatus) August 12, 2020 For some reason, the bug was causing the game to freeze on the Switch when players tried to login with a Microsoft account. For the most part, it seems that the bug has been resolved. Minecraft issued this statement to their MojangStatus Twitter account: Minecraft Bedrock on Switch: We released hotfix 1.16.21 tonight to resolve the issues with crashing & freezing. If you were having issues loading Realms, those should be resolved now. Please contact @mojangsupport if you’re still having issues. Thanks for your patience. – HZ— Mojang Status (@MojangStatus) August 21, 2020 A look through further tweet replies to this post shows multiple users now experiencing further issues, but overall it seems most players are able to now login and play Minecraft normally again. Mojang were quick to take action and do their best to rollout a fix to the previous issues on the Switch.
