So you want to fill up your museum in ACNH, but you don’t feel like shelling out that cold hard cash to Redd in order to buy art pieces eh? Well we’ve got some good news for you because apparently an update to Animal Crossing: New Horizons which released in May of 2020 revealed through a datamine that you can expand your art collection and receive art in another way. Well known ACNH dataminer Ninji has confirmed with evidence of the game’s code that you can randomly receive art through the game’s mail from your town’s villagers. Apparently these can occur based on personality: Lazy villagers such as Josh can send any piece of art to you in the mail (these art pieces may either be real genuine pieces of art or you may receive fake art).Cranky villagers will send you sculptures only (these art pieces may either be real genuine pieces of art or you may receive fake art).Smug villagers are apparently jerks and will only send fake pieces of are in the mail – boo!Nintendo’s code shows the wild painting as a sculpture, but we’re pretty sure that this is a mistake on Nintendo’s part. So take this with a grain of salt as it may be patched by them. Also, for some reason, the wild painting is classified as a Sculpture. I'm not sure that's correct, Nintendo. So you can get those from Cranky villagers too pic.twitter.com/r3IOCryECY— Ninji ๐ช๐บ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ๐ฌ๐ฎ B L M / 1312 (@_Ninji) May 22, 2020 Fake art can be put up and shown off anywhere that you want, so just because Blathers won’t accept those fake art pieces that those jerky smug villagers send you doesn’t mean that you can’t still display and enjoy them. It doesn’t seem that friendship “levels” affect these art gifts, so you can go ahead and be as mean or nice to your villagers as you want and it shouldn’t have any bearing on what you receive in the mail (regarding art pieces). We hope this Animal Crossing: New Horizons datamine showing that you can randomly receive art in the mail from villagers was helpful. Let us know what art pieces you’ve received so far in the comments below. Jonathan Zarra Lover of video games, coffee, and cats.
