ah dang....quite a few people are saying that for this one....its one of the least popular pokemon games....but its 80% cuz of the dex cut and 20% cuz of the "graphics are bad" arguement. which i understand but tbh i get why its like that.

I had it happen by accident a few years ago when I was trying to IV breed a Squirtle.

It's just the random nature of trying to do random direct trades with 0 communication. Like I needed the other starters so bred a sobble. It seemed like a clear message of "starter swap". But I basically had to keep doing random link trades and spamming the sobble as the other player would randomly show other stuff. Only one person got the message after I kept showing it lol.

It's a lot worse than just checking the GTS or putting your own pokemon in

It IS awful.
Have you downloaded Pokémon Home? Some of the features are free, thank Arceus, and the GTS was one of them. I was so relieved to find it on there when I downloaded it last year or so.

Nah, the only thing that is paywalled is transfer from SuMo/USUM and maybe PE and PoGo.

I refused to pay for pokemon bank back in the day because I thought it was horrible to paywall transfer when it's been free the whole time, so all the info about Bank 2.0 slipped my mind. Thanks for the tip!

Oh yeah, I only ever used Bank for the free trial once in Feb 2014, so I could restart Black (my favorite entry in the series)
Not even sure if the price was bad, I just never paid for it because I never got around to restarting another game, much as I wanted to. But as a middle schooler basically any paywall was to be avoided at all costs.

I totally missed the free trial period because I was too distracted back then, but I honestly don't mind. If I need to transfer up I can use homebrew to do it up to the 3ds games. I don't have any of that on my Switch though

I always thought the free trial was for you to use any time you chose, like Switch Online or YouTube Premium.
