I regularly play Monste Hunter Rise almost every day so i tend to be on it, that includes other games

As someone who hasn't played monster hunter yet, why are so many people completely obsessed with this series?
Well I can’t speak for everyone but personally I like the challenge and the need to learn what monsters do in game to beat them. This isn’t in rise but in generations I like playing as a prowler.
Is the game super grindy and repetitive? I've read some stuff online but am trying to figure out if Generations is something I'd be into
Generations is very different from rise. Rise is still be refined where as generations is the ultimate version of the former game. Kind of like Pokémon generations.
You do need to attack monsters multiple time to get the items you need especially in former games like generations where range and close combat tiers are separate. Buddies also have their own gear. Low rank is different from high rank as well.
Not just for weapons and gear but for items like potions, and traps. It’s like an investment into the game to reach the pinnacle of your style and than bring it to the online against g ranks
For a newcomer which would you recommend i pick up first?
Well some people still play generations online but you’ll have a much easier time investing into rise. For example in generations you have to build gear separately for swords than you would a bow
So investment rise I think you get more from rise but if you can get generations on sale there are a few things it has unique to like like playing as a cat, and having access to g rank which hasn’t been added yet to rise

You’re welcome one more thing I should add is that in rise you don’t have to worry about hot and cold drinks since the weather doesn’t affect your health or stamina. It’s got a few more convenient things both games should have demos

My friend's coworkers play this game every single night and I've been hearing a lot of people talk about how addictive the gameplay is
Also each generation of the game has unique creatures so rise will have ones you don’t find in generations and generations will have ones that didn’t make it into the new generation of the game. Generations is sort of like the sum of the older generations bought together and rise is like the coming a new generation
