I'm so happy I bought an unpatched switch cause I bought it late 2018 and they were hard to find brand new and cheap. The thing is that Nintendo has not released the switch in my country and there is no warranty for it. Also sales are very bad, so I contacted an Amazon seller who had an unpatched piece left and bargained with him. Finally we got to an agreement where he'd give me the accessories from a returned package and the new unpatched unit. Got it for 15000 rupees. Which is like 214 dollars. I already had 2 new patched units. So the I didn't bother about the accessories. I contacted him a year later to see if he had a piece left for my buddy. The seller told me that he had finished selling all the units the day before I contacted him. he was apparently sick and tired about the entire process he had to go through just to get rid of those pieces. The thing is that Amazon packages in my country get picked up by Amazon themselves and its free shipping for the customer bothways. Any shipping charges are passed on to the seller. Apprantely people here keep returning the items even when they are not defective.
