Do people think the switch has a lot of life left in it after Tears of the Kingdom? Seeing a lot of Youtubers and articles suggesting its Nintendos last big release for the console

As someone who doesn’t play Zelda or Metroid, I still have plenty of games to play and games I’m looking forward to releasing. Until one or both of those things changes then I think it’s time for a new Gen of Nintendo console. Although the portable nature of the Switch makes it so that even if a new console is hooked up, the Switch is still just a grab away from being booted up again

@ThomasCasson historically speaking, usually after 2 Zelda games release (especially 3D) on a console, the dawn of a new Nintendo Gen is usually upon us. The precedent has been set since the N64.

I agree Zelda has bookended Nintendo's console in the past. And i'm a little surprised Tears of the Kingdom isn't a duel release to a new console as well. I do think the switch portable-ness will keep it distinctive from the pack for a while yet. Also, the sales although slowing are still extremely good compared to other consoles at this point in their lifetime! So i don't think Nintendo is in any rush to push on to the next console.

Also considering Nintendo flopped with the Wii U, the Switch having an extended life cycle would be understandable especially if they’re hoping for console/portable records to be broken particularly for number of Switch units sold
