The switch can give and receive power. Since the faulty docks give a different amount of power, the switch stores the wrong amount of power. If put into a dock, that bad power gets discharged to the dock. It can't handle it, messes up, sends too much power back, and bricks the switch. A device like a console shouldn't be able to charge its charger.
