And iirc they needed around 12-13 million more in this q3 to reach it
I forget for sure but they might've made that estimate for next March
So after the holidays it banks on what they decide to market/release Q1
yeah, for next March (i was talking about financial year, which closes in March). But still, the point stands, until March, they must sell 12 million switch with basically Smash
Third party support is still a problem
The Switch is still getting waaaaaaay better third party support than the WiiU and even the Wii but so far the trend has been either port of old game or something that is muliplat
Certainly not bad but could be better
Portability won’t appeal to everyone and there’s still a lot of people that want a higher powered console for their living room or bedroom at home
Nintendo has no qualms with that since the whole focus is the dual aspect
So then it all banks again on whatever they're marketing after smash
In terms of exclusives, off the top of my head we have: Mario Odyssey Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Splatoon 2 ARMS Xenoblade Chronicles 2
I’m sure there are more and anyone is more than welcome to point them out
But I’m not counting games that were on WiiU (Splatoon 2 is a proper sequel with more content, Botw was also on WiiU)
Smash Ultimate I feel is kind of a gray zone
Mostly the same game without getting into fighting game nuances and “patch notes”
But still lots of new content or returning content that’s polished and updated
ARMS sold well but had trouble holding onto the playerbase, Xeno is still a little weird because jrpgs aren’t for everyone and kind of a hard sell
Some of my friends and relatives bought a switch just for Mario Odyssey
I’m experiencing similar stuff with smash
Point I’m trying to make is that Nintendo still struggles with third party support in terms of brand new console exclusives. They’re the only ones making good games that are exclusive to the Switch
